I recommend you buy a Philips Headphone, good price, good quality, and I saw one that was costing under R$50 (aprox. $13), it hasn't a microphone, but I still have my old lightweight headphone that have been broken at the top that works normally both the phones and the microphone :)
I just didn't purchased it because I hadn't enough money, so I purchased the Lightweight one (R$30/$7) :P
The gaming one i had was shit, the microphone had a bad quality and it was so thin, that if you threw a piece of broken plastic,it could break,i had a Philips headphone it wasn't bad but it it was tangled badly, and then it died,Completely dead,i realized that the audio plug was the problem not the audio jack,i tried soldering it but there was no results,So i might buy a new pair.

Fixing thing cost a lot of money, so, in my opinion You should get new one :)
